POSTDOCTORAL POSITION available in Grenoble, France, for Herschel

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION available in Grenoble, France, for Herschel
Programmes on the Structure and Evolution of Circumstellar Disks

JOB DESCRIPTION :
A postdoctoral position is offered at the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de
Grenoble (LAOG), France, starting as early as late 2009. The proposed
field of research includes all aspects of protoplanetary and debris disk
studies, including line and continuum. The selected candidate will work
at the reduction, release and analysis of data obtained as part of the
Herschel Open Time Key Programmes in which LAOG is involved. They are
GASPS, DIGIT, DUNES, DEBRIS, and HOPS.

The successful applicant is expected to work in close collaboration with
members of two of LAOG's scientific teams: FOST and ASTROMOL. His/her
role will be to reduce PACS data at the beginning of the Herschel
mission, and help with their archiving and public release. The candidate
is also expected to actively participate in the model fitting and/or
scientific analysis of the disk data.

The applicant should have a PhD in Physics or Astrophysics. All
applications will be reviewed carefully starting November 1st and until
the position if filled. A good knowledge of data reduction and/or model
fitting of accretion disks, in particular in the context of star and
planet formation, would be an asset.

Applicants can contact group members (see below) for more information.
Applications should be sent by e-mail to Francois Menard
(menard@obs.ujf-grenoble.fr).  They should comprise a short CV and
description of research interest, a list of publications, and up to 2
reference letters. The contract will run for an initial period of 2
years, with possibility for a 1 year extension.
